Kodak Black is currently serving a 120-day sentence in a Florida jail after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor drug possession charges. In October, Kodak shared a somber verse over the phone from jail, and, over the weekend, he delivered another brief taste of new music for the fans with his 'Jailhouse Blues' freestyle. On the new song, Kodak discusses his own childhood and his role as a father. Kodak Black may be behind bars, but he isn’t letting that hinder his creative flow.

On Saturday evening, the 19-year-old rapper gave fans a new freestyle track called “Jail House Blues,” which he recorded over the phone at the St. Lucie County Jail. Dubba-AA, Kodak’s friend and frequent producer, told XXL the rapper had called him Friday evening with a simple request: to record a freestyle he was about to spit. Dubba then took the audio and delivered an incredibly raw acapella track with honest rhymes interspersed with humming. He’s clearly been doing a lot of thinking and writing while locked up, and we can’t wait to hear what he’ll drop after his release.

Earlier this month, Kodak was recorded singing heartfelt lyrics to his girlfriend over the phone. The words addressed his uncertainty about what the future holds.

“I don't know where I'm headed/You don’t even answer no more/It seem like you wanna be separate/Everybody telling me go/But I don’t know where I'm headed,” he can be heard singing.
