How do I get PSU to run? (PC without expansion)

Phantasy Star Universe Pc Download
I got a PC copy of Phantasy Star Universe here and I was able to install it. As soon as I launch the game, I get an error message. Something along the lines of: 'Can't connect to the GameGuard Update Servers'. I tried to fix it, but I can't come up with a solution myself... Now I was wondering if there was an easy way to get it working or to bypass GameGuard, without the need to download Notavirus.exe.
Also I'm aware of the Clementine Server and it does run, but I would like to play the story of the base game again, before I continue with the expansion...
