Windows Vista Previous Next Sort. Where can I get and install sm bus controller I have a dell inspiron 530. 1 Dark Lord of Tech Speedy Gonzales.

What am I seeing?
Device Manager displays an exclamation point for the SMBus controller or lists it under Other Devices.

How to fix it
Download and run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility so Windows* properly recognizes the SMBus controller.

NoteSMBus is the System Management Bus used in personal computers and servers for low-speed, system management communications. A SMBus controller is integrated into most Intel® chipsets.

Hi guys,

Windows Vista Dell Sm Bus Controller Drivers

I recently purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron 518, with 4GB of RAM. Realizing that Windows Vista Premium will not see all 4GB RAM due to it being 32-bit, I decided to purchase Vista Ultimate and install the 64-bit version.Windows Vista Dell Sm Bus Controller Driver
Windows Vista Dell Sm Bus Controller Driver I know that Dell doesn't directly support 64-bit Vista and that I'll probably have to find my own drivers for some things since Dell only has 32-bit drivers.
I was able to find drivers for the sound card (realtech), and pretty much everything else Vista seemed to detect OK, but I'm having 2 issues:
In Device Manager, there is one item under 'Other Devices':

Sm Bus Controller Driver Windows 7

SM Bus Controller
I have no idea what this is... I asked Dell and one tech said it sounds like it's the chipset. If this is the case, is this a proprietary thing from Dell or is there a way I can find out about the motherboard in my system and possibly find drivers (or does Dell make their own?)
Another problem is my ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB video card. Vista sees it fine in Device Manager. I installed the 64-bit driver's and CATALYST 8.9, but when I go into my display settings, it's not seeing the adapter it shows:
(Default Monitor) on RDPDD Chained DD
and I cannot change the screen resolution (it's stuck at 1052x843) and 16 bit Medium colors.
I contacted ATI and so far only got a generic auto reply type of response, but they are saying 'Based on our experience, issues with Catalyst Control Center are usually caused by system components not being installed properly. ' so this MAY POSSIBLY be related to the above issue?
I don't know.
Any help regarding resolving either or both of these would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
